I was catching up with my friend Dan the other day, just one of those casual conversations between business owners where you start talking shop. He asked me, “Josh, how’s the IT business going?”
I stopped for a second. It’s a fair question, and on paper, Splashwire is an Information Technology consulting firm. But as I started telling him about what my team and I have actually been doing over the last year, I realized that “IT business” doesn’t even begin to cover it.
I told him, “Dan, the truth is, a lot of our clients don’t just have us managing their servers. They have us helping them run their organizations.”
It’s a subtle but massive distinction. For many of our partners, we aren’t just the guys you call when the Wi-Fi is spotty or when you need a new laptop. We are sitting at the executive table, helping steer the ship. We’ve stepped into leadership roles because, frankly, many CEOs and business owners are so bogged down in the day-to-day “running” of the organization that they don’t have the bandwidth to work on the strategy.
That’s where we come in. We don’t just fix the tech; we solve the business logic that makes the tech necessary in the first place.
Why “IT Strategy” Isn’t the First Step
Most people think the process goes: Business Idea -> IT Strategy -> Implementation.
In reality, there is a massive chasm of operational complexity that sits between the idea and the technology. If you don’t bridge that gap with sound executive leadership, the best IT strategy in the world won’t save you.
Take 2025, for example. It was a whirlwind year for everyone, but for our clients, it was a masterclass in why they need an executive partner, not just a vendor. Before we even talked about cloud migrations or cybersecurity protocols, we were in the trenches helping our clients figure out new challenges: government funding.
We spent a significant portion of the year navigating changes in federal and state funding. Why? Running an organization or local government is a team effort. It requires multiple leaders, varying perspectives and collaborative solutions. We were acting as COO and CFO-level advisors, reviewing existing strategies, shifting daily operations and leading the change necessary to have a successful year in what may have been the most dynamically changing year in modern history.

Navigating the Global Logistics Nightmare
Then there were the tariffs.
Everyone remembers the supply chain headaches of the early 2020s, but 2025 brought its own unique set of challenges regarding product imports and shifting tariff structures. We had clients who needed to move physical products into the country to keep their operations running.
Now, does a traditional “IT guy” care about international trade regulations or customs bonds? Probably not. But at Splashwire, our vCIOs do.
We stepped in to help manage the logistics of getting products across borders. We analyzed the impact of new tariffs on their bottom line and helped them pivot their procurement strategies. This is what I mean by “business logic.” We had to solve the problem of how the business functions globally before we could ever worry about the software that tracks those functions.
How? By being a partner that understands that technology is just a tool to support a larger operational goal. Why? Because if your products are stuck in a port or priced out of the market by tariffs, your IT strategy is irrelevant.
The Executive Leadership Role (vCIO/vCISO)
This level of involvement is what we call our vCIO (Virtual Chief Information Officer) and vCISO (Virtual Chief Information Security Officer) services. But honestly, those titles still feel a little too “tech-heavy” for what we actually do.
We are operational leaders. We help businesses in manufacturing, healthcare, government, transportation logistics, warehousing and other high-stakes industries manage their budgets, their lifecycles, and their business intelligence.
When we sit down with a board of directors, we aren’t just talking about bits and bytes. We’re talking about:
- Risk Management: How do we protect the organization’s reputation and financial stability?
- Compliance: Ensuring you meet NIST, PCI, or HIPAA standards isn’t just a checkbox; it’s a foundational requirement for doing business today.
- Operational Efficiency: Where are the bottlenecks in your workflow that are costing you money every single day?
We take the burden of running the IT-related operations off the owner’s plate so they can get back to their core mission. We’ve found that many of our clients were essentially acting as their own IT directors, not because they wanted to, but because they didn’t have a partner they could trust to handle the executive-level decision-making.

Simplifying Consumption, Enhancing Experience
One of our biggest goals at Splashwire is to simplify consumption. The world of technology is getting more complex by the second. AI is everywhere (and yes, you probably need an AI strategy), cybersecurity threats are evolving, and the sheer number of SaaS platforms is dizzying.
As your executive partner, our job is to filter that noise. We don’t want you to have to understand the nuances of every single update or regulation. We want to provide you with a simplified experience where you can consume the benefits of technology without the headache of managing it.
It’s about the experience of the partnership. It’s about knowing that when you hit a wall, whether it’s a technical glitch or a global trade issue, you have a team that is already three steps ahead of you. This is what solves the 2:00 AM problem. You sleep better because we are the ones worrying about the operations.
A Legacy of Partnership
Splashwire has been doing this for over 25 years. We’ve evolved from a traditional integration provider into a strategic powerhouse. We’ve seen the industry change, and we’ve changed with it. But the one thing that has remained constant is our commitment to our clients’ success.
To the business owners reading this: ask yourself, is your IT provider helping you figure out your 2026 budget? Are they looking at how current events might affect your supply chain? Are they helping you navigate the complexities of government funding?
If the answer is no, you don’t have a partner: you have a vendor.

We take immense pride in the fact that we are often the first call our clients make when they have a business problem, not just a computer problem. We are grateful for the trust our partners place in us, and we don’t take it lightly. Whether we are helping you scale your operations or just ensuring your team has remote support that actually works, we are in it for the long haul.
